Thy Word is Truth

The Bible reveals the will of God in a number of ways. First, the Bible gives us direct statements of Truth. These are statements of fact that God has recorded in his word for us. Time and time again critics have challenged the things that God has stated as true, and time and time again, the critics have been proven wrong! As the scripture says, “…let God be true, but every man a liar…” (Romans 3:4) Some examples of direct statements of truth are as follows:

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 1:18

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:16 KJV

Each of these statements reveals a truth that God would have us to know. We can accept them or reject them, but we cannot change them! They are God’s revealed Word!

The Bible contains many such statements. They are the very foundation of the faith that the Bible reveals and that can lead us to life eternal! If we do not believe what God says, how can we do what he would have us do? Biblical faith is more than simple belief, but belief is the beginning of Biblical faith.

Notice the belief of Peter: “He (Jesus, MDJ) saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15-16)

From this basic foundation of belief, Peter lived a life of faith that led him to follow Jesus while he was on Earth, proclaim Jesus after his death on the cross, and even, according to history, to lay down his own life for the Gospel he preached!

Do you accept God at his Word? Do you believe what he has revealed even as Peter did? Can you truly say that you are ready to follow him?

Until next time, let me encourage you to search the scriptures daily, whether these things are so. Acts 17:11

May God bless you in your study of his Word.
